Photon Gen 2 — The Evolution
The Photon Gen 2 is a complete redesign of CYC lightweight mid-drive platform. The transition from outrunner to inrunner motor delivers better efficiency, improved cooling, and a more refined ride feel. At 750W rated / 1200W peak with 130Nm of torque, it sits in the sweet spot between legal compliance and serious trail capability.
What Is New in Gen 2
CANBUS communication replaces UART for faster data, better noise resistance, and an open ecosystem with no proprietary battery lock-in. Asymmetrical connectors prevent mis-wiring. The entire drive unit opens with four M5 bolts for tool-free maintenance. Chainring removal uses radial screws.
What Is Included
Motor + gearbox with integrated controller, display (SW102T color or Intuition 2.1 inch HD LCD), chainring (34T-50T), bottom bracket hardware, wiring harness with waterproof Julet connectors, throttle, crank arms, speed sensor, and installation hardware.
Battery Compatibility
Supports 36V to 72V battery packs via XT90 connector. Open ecosystem — works with CYC A-series and third-party packs. Save $125 when bundled with a CYC A-series battery.
